WAKEFIELD COLLEGE SKILLS XCHANGE AT GLASSHOUGHTON BY DLA

STUDENTS OF WAKEFIELD, YOU POOR BASTARDS. YOU HAVE BEEN SHAT ON BY DLA ARCHITECTS, TRULY ONE OF THE WORST DESIGNERS IN THE WESTERN WORLD. IT DOESN'T GET ANY WORSE THAN THIS. THE PRESS RELEASE SAYS IT'S ICONIC, BUT WHAT THEY MEAN BY THAT IS THAT IT HAS A POINTLESSLY OVERSAILING TRIANGULAR ROOF AND SOME SMOKED GLASS. OH YES, AND A NAME LIKE 'SKILLS XCHANGE'. WITH NO 'E'.
WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THEIR COLLEGE TUTOR THAT THEY'LL NEVER MAKE IT. EVER. AND HERE'S THE EVIDENCE OF THEM NOT MAKING IT. IF YOU'RE READING THIS, PLEASE STOP. PUT DOWN THE MOUSE. GET ANOTHER JOB.

  1. I have to drive past this monstrous pile of concrete crap every day. Not only is it pig-ugly, it is badly sited; morning and evening traffic grinds to a halt while the poor students cross the road at the one and only crossing point.
Oh and the new canteen.....too small! The architects didn't cater for the students!

  4. i study there and as nasty as you are toward this building remember its goverment funded so you payed for it ha !! however if you took the time to maybe explore this outlandish building you would understand its hidden qualitys with make it truly spectaculer the open steel work the sheer quantity of glass the open plan 3 story iner outlay bringing 3 storys in to one masive atrium of lerning ability from the massive workshops to the back with the open space a car machanic would need the space for a 16 year old to learn how to build a full scale wall the masses of open and closed plan boxes for joiners and tradesmen alike to the pointless overhang at the front witch has been angled to ward the midday sun to shade grate prportions of the open glass keeping human comfort in controle also it reduses the vast wind tubulenc that sweeps across the massive plane it is situated on to reduce noise and exteria wind around the entrences you dumass well not a masterpice it could not be more fit for purpose which is the axact nature of a collage you goon not an iconic landmark all the open pan areas and bare industry and engineering got me a distinction as i could use the building to learn from so next time you slag off a building make sure its not full of cocky hnd civil engineers and dislexic architchts p.s planning and riba the people who make you there bitch loved it ;D if you wish to comment email me at felix.g.r.shields@gmail.com

  5. Why is the tip of the pointing roof supported by three gigantic steel poles? Isn't that inconsistent with the fact that the thing is supposed to be an expression of free soaringness? The integrity of this detail in the building is on life support!
